General Questions
Q: What is your response time?
A: Horizon Restoration is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to your restoration emergency. Response time will vary based on location but our goal is to be onsite within 1 hour from notification.
Q: Will this be covered by my insurance?
A: Each insurance company and policy is different. You should contact your insurance company to discuss exactly what your policy covers. Horizon Restoration will work with your insurance company to make it right.
Fire Damage
Q: I have had a fire on my property. Can I clean it myself?
A: Cleaning the property yourself could lead to increased damages. Our trained and experienced restoration specialists can assess your situation and restore your home or business following the highest industry standards.
Q: How do you secure my property during the restoration process?
A: We will complete emergency board, if necessary, the same day. During the restoration process temporary doors with locks are provided and access is typically controlled with a lockbox and keyed entry.
Water Damage
Q: I've had water damage to my home. What do I do now?
A: Contact Horizon Restoration immediately so we can dispatch our Emergency Services team to begin the mitigation process. In addition you can:
- Turn water off at the main valve. Typically next to the curb in front of your house.
- For minor water damages, try to remove as much excess water as possible by blotting.
- Do not leave paper items such as books, magazines or photos on wet surfaces.
- Do not attempt to extract water with your vacuum.
Q: Is it possible that mold will grow as a result of the water damage I have had?
A: Yes, mold can grow within 1-2 days with the right conditions. Do not let your water damage wait to be repaired. Waiting can increase the damages and cost of mitigation.
Mold
Q: How can I tell if I have a mold problem?
A: Mold can be fuzzy or slimy and comes in a variety of colors (black, green, orange, red or purple). Mold can also appear to be a powdery substance. Another indication of mold growth is an odor that smells like mildew. Mold needs moisture and warmth to grow. The most common places mold can be found are in the bathroom, laundry room and basement.
Q: If I clean the area where I suspect mold, will it stop the growth?
A: Cleaning will not stop mold growth. The source of the moisture causing the mold growth must be identified and repaired.
Q: What is the process to remove mold?
A: First, an industrial hygienist will take samples of your mold then devise an abatement plan for that particular strain of mold. The remediation plan is supplied to Horizon Restoration and our specially trained crews will remove the mold. A final test will be conducted to be sure the mold has been remediated and the cleaning process was successful. In addition, the moisture source for the mold will be identified and repaired.
Contents Damage
Q: Where will the damaged contents of my property go during restoration?
A: When necessary, we can pack your contents and store them in our warehouse. Our warehouse is designed to store our clients contents safely and securely. We inventory all of the items and give each item a barcode for easy tracking. Once the items have been restored and you are ready to get them back, Horizon Restoration will deliver and unpack the contents for you.
Q: Will I need to replace my belongings or can they be restored?
A: That will depend on the extent of the damage. Many items can be restored such as furniture, clothing, books, electronics and even photographs. Horizon Restoration employs a team of specially trained content cleaners to restore your valuables.
